Teen Tuesday Entrepreneurship Sessions  – (For middle and high School Students) 

Target Demographic: Teens, underserved community High School Students, DECA Students, National Honors Society Students, Teens looking for options outside of the college track, Key Club Students, Teens who have exemplary leadership skills and want to help their communities in innovative ways and Teens interested in learning how to make money now.

Overview:

  • Date & Time: Every Other Tuesday, 1/9 onward @ 5pm EST
  • Purpose: Join our Entrepreneurship Sessions to connect with like-minded peers, explore entrepreneurship, gain financial literacy, and discover internship and scholarship opportunities in the community.
  • We would like for the teens who participate in our Tuesday Zoom Sessions to participate in Echo’s upcoming Pitch Competition and the winner is recognized at the upcoming 2024 Earth Day Gala
  • We would like Echo, RightTek, Trane and Hangar 6 to collaborate in hosting the upcoming 2024 Earth Day Gala which will honor NC IDEA and teen entrepreneur winners.

Session Details:

  • Week #1 – Welcome and Ice Breaker:
    • Meet VonGretchen, instructors, and fellow students.
    • Share your passions and interests.
    • Learn about VA Tutors and their role in supporting The Wakaboomee Program.
  • Week #2 – Thinking Like an Entrepreneur:
    • Learn the entrepreneurial mindset.
    • Explore fundraising possibilities for supporting organizations.
    • Identify how to use your passions to address community needs.
    • Create a simple business plan and prototype.
    • Discover networking, mentorship, and basic money management.
  • Week #3 – Special Guest: RightTek and Career Opportunities:
    • Learn about trade careers outside of traditional college paths.
    • Discover internships, scholarships, and community service projects.
    • Explore opportunities from organizations like Trane Technologies, UNC Hospital, SKEMA @ NCSU, RightTek, First Flight Venture Center, Rotary International, and others.
  • Week #4 – Design Your Own Business:
    • Collaboratively brainstorm and design your ideal business.
    • Use the five areas of a business plan for preparation.
    • Create businesses that benefit the community.
  • Week #5 – Business Presentations and Field Trip:
    • Students present their business designs to judges from First Flight Venture Center.
    • Take a tour of Hangar 6 and learn about First Flight Venture Center’s impact on North Carolina.
