Beginning Woodshop
Grades 3 - 6
Geared towards students in grades 3-6, this class will teach woodworking safety and the use of hand tools including handsaw, hammer, screwdriver, and sandpaper. We keep our volunteer:student ratio as close to 1:2 as possible. If you want to stay to assist your student, we ask that you go through our volunteer onboarding process prior to attending with your student. The student will complete 1-2 projects in the duration of the 4 class. Due to the high demand of this class, we ask that your student attend one session per semester.
Shop Class
Grades 7 - 12
Every week, the students gather together for their weekly Tool Talk in which they delve into one specific tool, learning the function and safety of that tool. The students are encouraged to make projects that can sell. These projects are posted online, taken to vendor shows, and placed in a local retail store named Casa Bella Market. This teaches entrepreneurial skills AND the students get 80% of the sale! Our goal is for students to stay in our program until they graduate high school. We want to graduate students who have employable woodworking skills, lifelong DIY abilities, and confidence in themselves to succeed.
